Update "Mail Security"
System 5 helps you to avoid falling victim to e-mail spoofing. We are pleased to announce that the latest version of System 5 (as of 11th December 2017) handles known new threats. Suspicious e-mails are stopped via the White/Blacklist mechanism and are clearly labeled with a "faked sender" warning.
Criminals are "inventive" and keep finding shortcomings in various e-mail clients (including well known major ones) leading those to show wrong sender addresses. By using special formatting in the sender's e-mail address, they bypass security mechanisms of most mail servers. Once the e-mail is delivered, the mail client shows a different, faked sender compared to the one the e-mail server accepted. The sender pretends to be someone else and you are at risk.
This new feature is now available in System 5 allowing you to view pdf attachments without having to open them in a separate window. Simply click on the attachment icon to preview the file. ... See MoreSee Less

"General Data Protection Regulation" vs. "Vessel Position Updater"
The new European privacy law, also called "General Data Protection Regulation" (GDPR), shall apply from 25 May 2018. The GDPR imposes new rules on companies and all kinds of organizations that offer goods and services in the European Union, or that collect and analyze data tied to EU residents. Among other things, companies are required to document all sorts of data processing and evaluate same. If a third party processes data for a company, this external party needs to comply with the GDPR as well.
What has this got do with a "Vessel Position Updater”? If a shipbroker forwards all emails to an external provider for parsing and extraction of vessel positions or cargo orders, this could be considered as general data processing. In this case, do you know how long such e-mails are stored on the provider’s side, who has access? Can you be sure only e-mails with ship positions and cargo orders are forwarded, and no e-mails with personal information of your customers or employees are among those messages?
All these questions can be answered with a "YES" when using the Automatic Position Updater (APU) provided by System 5. The APU is installed on each customer's server and no message needs to be forwarded to any external system.
